The seascapes are the big draw for me on #IslesofScilly

Someone here has shipped over Pheasants & Red-legged Partridges, swarming over the fields of Tresco today & being fed in this woodland. FFS.

A new example of #PheasantTat for my collection (the normalisation of this super-abundant non-native species in British culture).

An estate agent’s board in Dartmoor National Park.

Sorry to my passenger but I had to go back to capture it.

UK Govt is holding a public consultation on its plans to further restrict burning on England's peatlands, 80% of which are currently degraded. Setting fire to grouse moors to produce artificially high numbers of red grouse for shooting must stop. Have your say 🔽

From the latest edition of The Field, "the secretive & sporting snipe".

Er....these aren't snipe. Not even close.

It's stalking awareness week & great to see loads of police forces getting involved. This piece from Sussex Police on how to spot the signs of stalking & what happens when you report it is particularly good.

Spotted on the Moorland Association’s social media this afternoon. What is it that attracts violent misogynists to the world of grouse shooting? Hmm, let me think… #inadequates

A great privilege to speak at the @nirsg.bsky.social conference at the w/e alongside these outstanding raptor ecologists & conservationists.

There are good things happening in NI for raptors (return of breeding Osprey & WTE) but poisoning remains a threat. Pls help: www.change.org/p/ban-the-po...

At the Peace Wall in Belfast, separating Nationalists/Unionists, a lot of the murals now represent other modern conflicts, esp Israel & Palestine.

But someone has painted a giant eagle, the only nature-based mural I saw. White-tailed eagles bred in NI last yr, 1st time in 150yrs.

Symbol of hope.

Sometimes, the impairment of mental acuity caused by too many years consuming toxic lead ammunition is all too obvious.

Bitterly cold at Wicken Fen yesterday watching Marsh Harriers floating in to roost. Frozen fingers were forgotten when a stunning silver HH tore through the reeds in front of us & lit up the fen with a 10 min hunting frenzy. What an encounter!

#PheasantTat spotted in a Cambridgeshire shop this week.

Six years on & they still haven’t grasped how WJ functions.

Nor have they learned to hide / control their brazen displays of misogyny.

Disappointing to see the number of people on that forum who haven’t called him out for it, & the moderators who’ve allowed him to post it, normalising the abuse.

Ah, there's nothing like a new Ban Driven Grouse Shooting petition to trigger misogynistic abusers in the game-shooting industry.

He also doesn't seem to get the irony of using 17th Century slang in defence of his archaic hobby!

#PheasantTat is back! Sharing examples of the normalisation of this non-native species in British culture.

50 million released into countryside for shooting each year makes it absurdly superabundant.

If you see #PheasantTat pls share!

From this morning’s edition of Shooting Times. Hang on a minute, isn’t this the industry that claims to be self-regulating & not shooting Woodcock until after 1st December to protect resident UK red-listed population?! Idiots.
