The department has responsibility over 3 major areas: managing approximately $1.6 trillion in federal student loan debt, overseeing implementation and enforcement of the nation's special education law, and administering Title I, federal program aimed at improving outcomes for lower-income students.

Not an economist, but it sounds to me that the US company pays the tariff when the product arrives, not whoever sends it. That makes me think prices in the US are going to go up.
