I just realized that two of my favorite comfort movies open with a red biplane: THE KID (Bruce Willis, Spencer Breslin) and SECONDHAND LIONS (Robert Duvall, Michael Caine, Haley Joel Osment), and it may be the same plane! The latter features one of my favorite performances by Robert Duvall.

ESCAPE is out! The design for title & credits in slide 1 is based on Rick asking for something akin to Joe Kubert war comics. Designed in Illustrator, weathered in Photoshop ("ESCAPE" is not a font). Daniel draws a lot of the sounds effects himself, so when I do them, I try to emulate his style.

When I think of Eisner Award winning writer Peter David, I first think of 'Amazing Spider-Man' 267 -- "When Cometh... The Commuter" -- and then 'Spider-Man 2099', which he co-created with artist Rick Leonardi, his "But I Digress..." column in 'Comics Buyers Guide'...

That’s me, li’l Rusty in jeans and fake, Chucks (from K-Mart, we didn’t have money for football pants or cleats). I was around seven or eight years old here, second grade. We only won one game the whole season, but I enjoyed it nonetheless. This was a scan of a Polaroid by the way. .

Old digital sketch I still dig, done in Clip Studio Paint, no reference. I was going to give him hair, but I got bored with the sketch. I cropped it here, because his head looked too big, kinda like the Hulk’s nemesis, The Leader. 🤪

Another poster I did just for fun. I haven’t really watched a lot of anime, but as a kid, I loved the American dubbed version: STAR BLAZERS. Poster created in Illustrator and Photoshop. i’m not sure that the dry ocean bed reads as a desert here as it should.

September 30, 2019 — I got my second tattoo, a quote from ‘The Shawshank Redemption’: “get busy living or get busy dying.” Felt like I was at a turning point in my life, as was Andy Dufresne in the film, but then the pandemic hit, and we all kind of lost a few years.
