Police have just arrested at least five people during a peaceful march in Tbilisi, among them Mariam Mekantsishvili.

Mariam had previously faced criminal charges for “organizing group violence” and was released on bail. This is a new, unrelated arrest.

This is how Georgian police sprinted ahead today to block protesters from marching — even on the sidewalks.

Police have just arrested Mikheil. As always, he was standing on Rustaveli wearing a mask, his motorcycle parked nearby. For the past 10 days, officers have been stopping him after protests and fining him — never able to explain why. Tonight, a sudden arrest.

A beautiful and emotional performance of Georgia’s national anthem in Tbilisi tonight, as huge Georgian and EU flags wave among the crowd.

This is how Georgian protesters are often met as they march through the streets.
After nearly a year of daily protests, many people no longer have the luxury to show up every single night — but this fight still means everything to them, and it shows.
