Watch Georgian police creep up behind Davit Gunashvili and detain him as he peacefully marches with other protesters. Davit was only recently released from administrative detention.

Last night, police arrested at least 10 people without any legal grounds.

The Georgian Dream regime crossed a new line: they’ve arrested a journalist while he was working. TV Pirveli’s Giorgi Mamniashvili is now in holding. Previously, detained journalists were released quickly — seen as a clear warnings to the press.

Police have just arrested at least five people during a peaceful march in Tbilisi, among them Mariam Mekantsishvili.

Mariam had previously faced criminal charges for “organizing group violence” and was released on bail. This is a new, unrelated arrest.

Every day, Georgian police carry out countless unlawful orders.
Today, they suddenly decided that standing on the raised platform in front of Parliament is forbidden — and arrested young activist Sopo Markozia for simply being there.

Georgian protester Elene Berikashvili was sentenced to administrative detention today along with several others. At rallies, she would read the police oath out loud for the officers.

Today, her friend brought a speaker and played Elene’s recording for the police.

A drunk GD thug attacked protesters with a knife. Two protesters, Tornike Toshkhua and Mindia Shervashidze, disarmed him and handed the knife to police — yet they were kept in pretrial detention today. Today, an investigator also admitted the “victim” had no injuries, just redness.

This is how Georgian police sprinted ahead today to block protesters from marching — even on the sidewalks.

It’s both sad and comical. This is what disgraces the police, not Mzia Amaghlobeli’s slap.

In Georgia, people are now being arrested for… wait for it… squeaking a rubber duck at the police.

According to journalists on the ground, this is the only apparent reason for the arrest of Vano Skhirtladze at tonight’s protest.

Police have just arrested Mikheil. As always, he was standing on Rustaveli wearing a mask, his motorcycle parked nearby. For the past 10 days, officers have been stopping him after protests and fining him — never able to explain why. Tonight, a sudden arrest.

And when protesters do manage to step onto the road, police immediately sprint after them, trying to force everyone back onto narrow sidewalks. There seem to be even more officers than yesterday—determined to turn the march into a slow, exhausting crawl.

The court hearing of Girchi’s Gela Khasaia is underway — and the case is so absurd that a single tweet can’t do it justice.

The session, of course, is in a tiny room. His friends take turns standing by a small window, waving so he can see them.

I wish I could film this moment, but it’s forbidden.

The crowd is large for the march in support of young political prisoner Mate Devidze, yet police are forcing protesters onto the sidewalk of a busy avenue — while their cars occupy the bus lane that protesters could have used. We’re moving at an excruciatingly slow pace.

According to Dimitri Gvritishvili of Georgia’s High Council of Justice, no one — including journalists, lawyers, or prosecutors — will be allowed to bring electronic devices into courtrooms.

Journalists say this will make reporting on trials nearly impossible.
