I said it during COVID and I’ll say it again - I never want to hear the word “unprecedented” again.

I will quite happily go back to run-of-the-mill, same-old same-old, downright boring over this.

We have a pretty sick kitty in at the Vet ER/specialty hospital, and soon after intake, getting briefed on next steps, the vet said “so I understand she’s indoor only - I read that on her tag…” I thought - “YES! Someone read her tag!” She’s a door dasher, so I’m glad it’s on her tag.

Apparently the rumbling I felt this morning was an earthquake…

From the NYT:
“Breaking News: A rare earthquake struck southern Maine, sending trembles as far south as Boston. It had a preliminary magnitude of 3.8.”

If anyone wants to know why we have duvets instead of comforters… I just discovered a cat vomited on our bed… at almost 8pm. Cover is in the wash.

I will admit, I really am not sure how much I want to share on social media at all anymore. I’ve found it useful and fun to update (and receive updates from extended family - 50+ on my father’s side), but I’m increasingly wary of sharing personal details about my own family.

💯. And it lasts forever in the fridge; great for a quick stir-fried or braised veg on the side if you’re not sure what to make or didn’t have another veg.
made cabbage with sausage over rice for dinner tonight. cabbage remains such a world-beater. accounting in equal parts for flavor, versatility, and value, it's easily a top-tier vegetable, and although it may not necessarily be the best vegetable it should absolutely be in the conversation

After more than a year of talks, a deal that would halt Israel’s bombardment of Gaza and return Israeli hostages home has been reached.

Seen today (and yes, I was not moving when I took this photo). Love how much Somerville Schools does to keep our kids fed!

I present to you, the itty bitty footprints of rat-a-tat-tats in the snow. Urban tracking 🤪.

While I don’t love that we have rats in the city (however, rats have lived in cities since cities began, so 🤷🏽‍♀️) as long as they stay outside I’m cool coexisting with them.

There is a different sort of joy for me walking in the city on a Sunday morning than there is hiking in the woods.

The city feels like it is taking a quiet rest from its normal frenetic nature whereas the calm energy of the woods is steady. The change in the city brings a different kind of peace.
