We all need well funded public services. In a climate emergency would you rather the government spent its money to subsidise oil and tobacco companies or properly fund emergency services?
October 23, 2025 at 12:37 AM
We dream of a country where our people stay here instead of fleeing a government that is destroying public services

Govt says there is not enough money to pay firefighters and decent engines, but plenty for fossil fuel subsidies
October 23, 2025 at 12:21 AM
In a world of climate change we need well funded public health and education and emergency services. Not subsidies for oil companies
October 23, 2025 at 12:11 AM
When the climate storms come, will you want war helicopters or a well funded fire service?

Just like the 1930s there is a global struggle underway between democracy and fascism. All of us have to pick sides.

One of the symptoms of the 'resource curse' is that Govt becomes captured by one industry. In NZ that is dairy. Methane is the dominant GHG for NZ but it is now exempt from prices or regulations to cut it, which means all other sectors have to carry the weight of emissions reductions.

NZ often claims to have a world leading fishery management system. Critics like me beg to differ. This is what NZ's fishery management system has done to the orange roughy fishery.

Like Trump, the Luxon Govt wants to tax us to pay for subsidies for fossil fuel cos: Oil/gas exploration subsidies; LNG import facility subsidies; new coal generation subsidies. Meanwhile it cancelled the Gas Transition Plan; NZ Battery Project; Offshore Wind; Govt Investment to Decarbonise Industry

The Canterbury Regional Council has declared a Nitrate Emergency due to rapidly rising levels of dangerous nitrate in groundwater across the region. Driven by @fonterranz.bsky.social and other industrial dairy cos and accelerated by Luxon Govt. #TooManyCows www.rnz.co.nz/news/nationa...

We’ve found the children (and adults) that the Govt celebrated removing from emergency housing. They’re now living on the streets, after emergency housing grant criteria were tightened. Take a bow Chris Bishop, Minister of Homelessness.
September 1, 2025 at 10:47 AM
Minister for Homelessness, Chris Bishop, said he didn’t want kids growing up in emergency housing in motels. So he dramatically cut emergency housing grant approvals, pushed the families out into the streets. And now they are growing up on the street.

This is the camera footage Shane Jones and his industry donors want to keep hidden from the public with their proposed changes to fishing laws. They don't want you to see all the dolphins, seals and albatrosses they kill and fish dumping. You can see it at 28.25 www.youtube.com/watch?v=XkgX...
