President Trump is demanding DOJ pay him $230M in taxpayer-funded restitution.

Rupa Bhattacharyya, who spent years as the head of a major torts office at DOJ, explains in our Substack why doing nothing is the department's best and only option:
What the Justice Department Should Do With Trump’s $230 Million Demand: Nothing
Settling President Trump's legal claims outside a court of law should be a nonstarter for the Justice Department.

ICAP is proud to stand with @nilc.org to protect unaccompanied migrant children the government seeks to spirit away to their home countries in the dark of night. We await the Court's ruling on our preliminary injunction motion, argued today.

I’m always proud of the work we do at ICAP, but especially so this year - check out our Annual Report to see how the ICAP team is defending democracy and the rule of law at this turning point for our country.

We have the bizarre desire to put people into boxes even when they don't fit. In my view, either make the boxes fit, eliminate the boxes, or let people check what they think best describes them. The fault lies in the boxes. /end

When Asian became an option. I checked Asian. But I was never really comfortable about it. No person with heritage from India I knew described themselves as Asian. We said Indian or when it came into being South Asian. /2

As a child growing up in Louisiana, there were only two boxes: black or white. As an American with parents from India, I asked teacher which box to check. This being LA in the 70s, she looked at me like I had two heads. "Of course you would check white. Why would you check the other one?" /1

This law is not about public safety, it’s about fear and xenophobia.
