Engineer. Avid reader and library fan. I’m here to learn things. I only follow interesting people. I don’t care if you follow me.
I realize I’m probably late to this party but I just finished “Parable of the Sower” by Octavia E. Butler and looked up “Parable of the Talents” and it is fucking creepy this was written in 1998…

If TikTok was really such a “tool of democracy” wouldn’t the exit polls of the 2024 election be a lot more blue among younger voters?

Request your whole information packet. In a zip file will be a folder for “activity” > “posts” > “media”

Right after I scheduled my #facebook account for deletion, I see this headline. Welp, good timing!

NSFW art: here is a sexy PSA I drew after talking to my muse (who is in sex work) about issues around consent. I keep a lot of my art private but would love anyone who wishes to put this in the world.

Ended up with this, which I would say is about half & half. He is definitely tortured and used to be a hero, though that definition no longer applies.

I am absolutely devouring this book, it is so good.

I’m sure you’re waiting with bated breath to find out, but I made my goal at 9 pm on NYE by reading @margaretatwood.bsky.social poetry collection “Dearly.”

I read a couple of Frederik Backman short stories. “And Every Morning The Way Home Gets Longer and Longer” was gorgeous. The other one mighta reminded me why sometimes funny people might not make the best coparents…funny but there were a lot of not so funny moments…

Current status for my #readingchallenge with a day to go. I think I’ll make it but this one might be down to the wire!

Another enjoyable find from my quest for extremely short books to finish out my reading challenge. It is the nonfiction correspondence between a writer in NYC and a secondhand English bookshop. Under 2 hrs and a treat.

Here’s two I have saved that were available on Hoopla and not Libby (keep in mind, I live in a very conservative county, your mileage may vary depending on who is doing the selecting). Spicy content also seems to be much more plentiful, probably for similar reasons…

I am devouring a lot of fiction but I am taking my time working through this non-fiction on our education system. The hypothesis here is that a lack of specific, detailed curriculum is driving a gap between poor & rich students and between US & international students.

This really, really short translated story was fascinating, quite creepy but not very horror-ish.

Umm, what???

I took a few days off socials to decompress and come back to almost 10X the number of followers I had before…

Ya’ll must have had some boring holidays 🤣

I have read 14 books since Thanksgiving and am trying to complete my unrealistic #readingchallenge by the end of the year.

While I wouldn’t advise reading like this all the time, I have found choosing books based on an arbitrary criteria (length) has lead me to discover some unexpected gems.
