“Last Sunset”. Another experiment with alcohol inks (mixed media). That medium is a little tougher in the colder months, without being able to open a window. Can’t neglect safety! #art #handmade

X Ambassadors show in Ithaca last night - what an amazing energy and fantastic performance. I was really just a casual fan and I was really impressed by their musicianship and authentic joy. So glad we went! #livemusic is the best

#august #journal #drawing. I gave the Posca oil pencils another try. I still don’t have a solid feel for them, but that will never happen if I’m afraid to use them. #fearoffailure

First paddleboard outing of the year - Cayuta Lake (this photo from the inlet). Smallish but nice sized lake for paddling and not a ton of motor boats. Jessie struggled with the heat a bit, but nice to get out!

Lady #Liberty is an #immigrant. "Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free"

I'm having a hard time feeling particularly celebratory this Independence Day, under a government that celebrates cruelty. #sketch

“The Road goes ever on and on
Down from the door where it began. Now far ahead the Road has gone, And I must follow, if I can Pursuing it with weary feet,
Until it joins some larger way,
Where many paths and errands meet. And whither then? I cannot say.”

Lots of advice out there to do #gratitude notes in your #journal for reinforcing positive brain pathways, and I know I need as many of those as I can get. I give myself a little flexibility with the things I note (with some icons - I like a system!). It’s not revolutionary, but I find it helpful.
