Can't blame Stoat though for the speed, as they're currently predominately a volunteer group as there's no major form of income (yet). Subscription stuff is to come there, but its for the actually more taxing things like screenshare, not platform-wide emoji.

The closest app to it, both in function and goal, is probably Stoat (previously Revolt) and while dev has been really slow, they are starting to ramp up because of the influx recently.

Probably the other major one is Matrix/Element, just due to it already being well established even if different.
