I think we're at war... Surreal to have updates of missile and drone strikes in between pope memes

Had to withdraw from a deeply meaningful project because it's increasingly clear that writing about activist spaces might put ppl at risk in terrifying ways. Even if respondents are kept anonymous the writing still creates an accessible chronicle of actions that bad faith actors could use 😓

Did SCMS put out a statement about Trump's actions putting its members at greater risk this year? I'm not getting conference emails this year but I'm curious

Ppl keep telling me ai is great for finding initial sources in fields you're not familiar with so I was like FINE ILL TRY 🤷🏾 and then every source it gave was either totally made up or didn't say what it claimed at all.....like.... we're so cooked

Deeply ironic when you give anon review on smth pointing out that it doesn't deal with race as an aspect of fanwork... and then you get a revised version that completely changes the pitch of the analysis to focus on race...but no scholarship by scholars of colour is referenced

Feeling a bit doom-ish about the future of academic writing negl... Even good students can't seem to resist using AI to "tweak" their writing because they're convinced the bot is better... But that also means they'll never develop a voice of their own 🙃

Must admit it's a bit baffling to watch ppl talk about how USA uni admins will be more receptive to repressive policies only now when I've watched peaceful students getting beaten by police for the entirety of the last year

I know why but it's still very depressing that the largest consistent political mobilization in fandom spaces over the past few months has been solidarity for Palestine and no fan publication that I've come across has said anything about it
