Author, Horror Lover, Silly human.

I haven't properly introduced myself:

🐝 My name is Aly/Alyson/Bee
🐝 I write a lot of mermaids, selkies, and ghosts.
🐝I live in Maryland, but my home will always be the Arizona desert.
🐝Wife. Mother. A little queer and always too loud.
🐝Horror movies and vodka are the fastest way to my heart.
Today theres a lot of "what am i even doing here? what is this shit Ive written?" in the air and I think I've breathed in most of it.

Hey all! It's been a crazy, busy week or so for me, publishing and story-wise. I think this is the last for a minute but its certainly not least. If you have a moment, I would love you to have a look at this story that has one of my favorite titles ever:

This week I am feeling a lot of anxiety about not really being sure I belong places/ feeling very left out and I don't know how to shake it.

This makes me so happy I could cry. Black Sky, Blue Earth - my aching story about climate collapse & personal rebirth - is the lead story in this year’s @oysterriverpages.bsky.social. It has a lot of my soul in it. Please read it & all of Oyster River’s work

I am so so ready for October. Its become a small tradition for me to take a writing break in the fall. A month where as it approaches, I stop signing up for stuff (which is a bummer as there is some really cool stuff being announced) --

Home from NYC and watching Hadestown and y'all, I'm so so happy I got to go and see it and walk around the city and just be there. The musical was great, the whole 2nd act just wrecked me.

I feel refilled creatively and want to just... be obnoxious again.

In New York for the first time thanks to some kind friends willing to plan the trip and drive up so we can see Hadestown tonight.

Update they got us together on both planes there and pre assigned our seats for the flights back for me. Many anxieties eased this morning
Trying to get the customer service folks to adjust my seats for tomorrow because the computer decided me and my daughter should be halfway across the plane from each other and I dont particularly want to anxiously sit on this for 24 hours and hoping the gate can fix it.

Wish me luuuck
