Thank you Noura Erakat for this powerful piece that gets to the heart of our responsibility. Fighting for justice where we are requires us to understand that US support of Israeli apartheid and genocide helped lay the groundwork for this authoritarian rise. www.bostonreview.net/articles/the...

Trump and Netanyahu are undermining the ceasefire deal.

Prohibiting aid from entering Gaza, and calling for the ethnic cleansing of all Palestinians living there, not only violates international law but sabotages any chance at peace.
How Israel is violating the terms of the ceasefire:

By now Israel should have allowed 12,000 aid trucks to enter Gaza. They've let in 8,500.

50 fuel trucks should be allowed into Gaza every day. Israel have let in 15 fuel trucks each day

There are no good-faith anti-trans arguments and no acceptable compromises on trans lives
Trans regret is real - the vast majority of trans adults regret not being able to transition when they were children.

On the 76ers press conference: The fact that Mayor Parker and Council President Johnson did not acknowledge they have egg on their faces and, even more importantly, did not acknowledge the pain and turmoil the Chinatown community was put through as a result of this process is mind-boggling. 🧵

Was just listening to the most recent episode of the sweeper and upon hearing the reminder of the steel themed teams quiz it occurred to me that you missed the former “Bethlehem Steel FC” now “Philadelphia Union II”

around 42% of all marriages end in divorce. that is a very high regret rate for people committing to life changing decisions. the state should do something, ultimately we should ban marriage entirely

not to be too harsh but what’s the use of transgender representation in congress if they will immediately give in to fascist demands. genuinely what’s the purpose to this at all here
1. Transgender Congresswoman Sarah McBride has announced that she will comply with Speaker Johnson's policy declaring her a man and banning trans people from bathrooms.

She is receiving sharp critiques from those with trans friends who work in the capitol.

Congresswoman McBride Announces She Will Comply With Rules Declaring Her a Man
The decision comes after Mike Johnson declared that transgender people are not allowed in bathrooms of their gender identity under the provision that he "controls the facilities."

Here is a fascinating article by Fara Dabhoiwala in the LRB about the 18c Afro-Jamaica polymath Francis Williams (c, 1690-c. 1770). Brilliant detective work on the level of Carlo Ginsburg. And it has a Benjamin Lay connection!
