Being less horrible than the other guy while saying that you'll continue the status quo people are unhappy with loses elections.

And my state is ranked choice so I can vote for people I do like while still voting for a major party.

Most of your takes are pretty good, but ignoring Gaza was Kamala's downfall. You can't have people be angry with what the current admin is doing and tell people that you will do more of the same and succeed as a candidate.

Not even term limits, just prevent them and their immediate family from trading stocks

A real shout out to the now father of a half-SE Asian half-white baby born outside the US who told me in November that he didn't think that anything was gonna change. I was drunk at the time so I couldn't come up with something clever to say, but I think about his wife and kid a lot.

The only better thing you could do is take up a lot of her time so she doesn't have time to knock more doors

I don't live in the US, the chicken they sell here is so much smaller than American chicken. And when I last lived in the US, I never bought supermarket meat. I typically bought it from local farms, but at home my partner and I eat primarily vegetarian because neither of us likes cooking meat.

Capitalism optimizes for things like chickens who grow so large they can't support their body weight. Things like that are fucked up and are inherently different from raising animals with the goal of feeding yourself and your community.
May 5, 2025 at 3:18 PM
I see you missed the "not act weirdly morally superior" part. That's the difference.
May 5, 2025 at 2:55 PM
Veganism isn't inherently ethical, there is obviously nothing that will make you believe that.

Capitalist business practices around food are probably the least ethical. That's where you get the CAFOs and the palm oil plantations and the rich white people buying quinoa so the locals can't afford it
May 5, 2025 at 2:54 PM
No, but I'm going to respect my friends from other cultures where they are and not act weirdly morally superior about not eating them.

I'm not saying that animals are perfect and we should emulate them, I'm saying that humans are naturally omnivores, so eating meat isn't ethically wrong. What's ethically wrong would be wasting food or being ungrateful for it.
May 5, 2025 at 2:24 PM
Other animals eat animals, so I don't see why humans shouldn't too. We aren't special. I much rather be part of the food chain and eat real food than eat processed stuff that is made of things like palm oil which is killing the environment.
May 5, 2025 at 1:59 PM
Not all animal products come from big farms. If people want to eat vegan that's their perogative, but if you are a vegetarian or omnivore you shouldn't be forced to eat vegan just because you don't want to eat meat.

I didn't say that that's what it actually means. I'm just saying that's what women read it as.

That being said, there should be an option for left of the Dems because on dating apps "Independent" means "I vote GOP but I want to date liberal women"
May 5, 2025 at 1:03 AM
Hinge should come up with additional options because it's useful to know if they are Independent as in I hate Biden from the right or Independent as in I hate Biden from the left.
May 5, 2025 at 12:56 AM
That's why Hinge having you list your political affiliation is so helpful. If they list themselves as Republican or Moderate, you don't need to bother with them because it won't work out anyways.

This is insane because you can park in the bike lane during commuting hours. What kind of weird timing is that
May 2, 2025 at 5:26 AM
In most of the US, bad drivers will continue to keep driving even if their license has been taken away because there isn't any good public transport. I can't police all of that, I care more about pedestrians and bikes staying safe.
