....ESRI doing this feels concerning but if it gets people to learn the skills then I think it's ultimately fine.

And to be fair I don't think I need others in the field to go for a CDMP, but the book the DMBOK should really be required reading to ensure that people have a basic understanding of these skills.

I don't know where else to get these skills, it wasn't taught to me in grad school and the longer I am in this field the longer it becomes relevant that these are skills that I should have had a long time ago. Of course I am not the only one.

See, all the GIS folks I talk to lack skills in metadata, data quality and basic maintenance of data within their system. While the CDMP isn't exactly a how to. I think it provides a starting point for how to think about and approach these needed skill sets.

I think CDMP should be required for everyone considering that it is primarily data focused. It seems strange that you think it's It focused given that GIS folks work with Data as a fundamental part of the work.

#GISChat I want to talk to someone with these other certifications to see what the pros and cons are of getting these other certs.

So who should I talk to?

Fixing my vision will consist of doing Occupational Therapy or Vision Therapy. It's not cheap, the place I found wants roughly $3K of course there is no guarantee

And then after VT there is more OT to ensure I can drive safely with my vision which will also cost $3K

I'd like off this rollercoaster

When you say that AI helped you build these plugins, did it write the script for you? Did it provide information... Can you expand on your process, what exactly did you use it for?.
November 3, 2025 at 4:26 PM
Okay so that's really impressive. I like it. What AI system are you using specifically? (I don't even know if this question makes sense... But like I assume chatgpt 4 or 5 or something else?!)

That's really helpful to hear. I am feeling slightly concerned that I am not using it at all due to my own ethics and am worried that everyone I know who is using it, is using it for everything they can think of... And I don't know what I should make of that.

#FoodSecuirty Food Bank of the Rockies does a cool thing where they partner with a local group I e churches, library or a rec center, which allows them to have a wider geographic reach in areas that may not be food secure.

9/9 done, for real this time.

#FoodSecurity So in summary, a lot of our food pantries will take on the brunt of the loss of SNAP benefits but access to them is difficult and in some cases in my opinion dehumanizing.

I don't have any hopeful things to add to this. I think I am going to go cry now. This is abhorrent.

7/7
