Climate change and oil spills are threats facing our seabirds, that’s why offshore wind must be planned with minimised impacts.

Berwick Bank is planned in the worst possible place. Together other offshore wind proposed in Scotland would generate more energy without devastating impacts on wildlife.

The eggs from these adults were then introduced into coastal pools at Mersehead, with the recent wet weather providing them with the conditions to hatch. 🌧

It’s the first time the species has been seen at the reserve since 1948! 🙌

Working through Species on the Edge and in collaboration with Buglife and WWT eggs were taken from Caerlaverock and reared into adulthood by local ecologist Larry Griffin. 🥚

Over the past few decades, the Tadpole Shrimp had been found in just two locations in the UK – one of which was Scotland’s last surviving population at Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust’s (WWT) site at Caerlaverock.🦐
