Bringing people into an archival reading room is a win. Having debates about archival sources is a win. But too often the approach to archives and archival resources is based in a historical mindset. Archives, archival records, and the archival profession are not a subset to historians' work.

The Latter-day Saint Historian's Office was known for being nearly inaccessible for outsiders during the first 3/4 of the 20th century. And yet, a letter from an RLDS presiding officer in Utah during the 1950s describing his research experience bucks that stereotype. (cont.)

A growing movement to a new platform has forced me to reassess my thoughts about social media. My mental health won't let me continue to use it to shout into the void. If I simply update people about cool historical projects I'm working on is that somehow an endorsement of...everything? Too many ?s

I cannot say this enough: Archivists are so crucial to my work and one archivist just made my week. Thank you to everyone who engages in archival work. Historians and other users of archives don't share that appreciation enough, I think.
