I must admit I tried Zork I, II and maybe III and could never get anywhere. Always felt like I was missing the exact thesaurus they used for verbs and nouns (ie is this the same action on the same object or a new action). Still text based interactive fiction has grown into such a cool genre now.

Fundamental improvements! Thanks
All my work on string formatting in Rust of the past few years is tracked in this tracking issue: github.com/rust-lang/ru...

I wrote a bit about the history in blog.m-ou.se/format-args/ (two years ago).

This latest change is github.com/rust-lang/ru... and includes some explanation.

You know you got a good essential oil diffuser when your husband asks, “is there any way we could stop the odor?”

From O: Many parenting books and articles advise “It takes a village” and “Don’t be afraid to ask for help.” The problem is, @olgakhazan.bsky.social writes, “I didn’t have a village,” and many other moms don’t either: www.theatlantic.com/family/2025/...

Tell me this music career origin story doesn't bring you joy: "I was on the culture committee at my job in advertising at the time and was planning the summer party. They needed a DJ, so I decided to play. [...] My co-workers didn’t know it was me until they came"

yo this really works to just fix it (wait for the direct comment link to load) thanks @ellie.wtf for atuin, and this commenter for making it just do reverse search and not mess with my 25+ years of hitting up then left.
I've visited that a few times but now there's new comments! I think a variation on this might be a winner for the muscle memory constrained:

has anyone figured out how to get the history of atuin with the normal 'readline' style interactions of the last 30 years of bash history?

There used to be a bunch of jokes in the truly tasteless joke book(s) about rearranging the furniture in a blind person's room. But macos tahoe moving the music controls to the bottom and the volume/brightness to the upper right _25 years in_ is truly tasteless.
