If pundits would like to talk about violence, a terrorist recently shot up the CDC and another assassinated Democratic officials in Minnesota but they sort of let both stories disappear

Not as threatening as motorbikes in DC I know but maybe we could circle back?

Per Friends of BLS, Bureau of Labor Statistics has lost 20% of its staff since Jan, including 1/3 of leadership.
As I wrote in July, I requested these figures at least a dozen times from BLS/DOL. They blew me off. Other agencies have sustained similar losses

Attended a training hosted by @freedcproject.bsky.social this morning. They offered practical information on context and actions that people living in DC can take in response to the #FederalTakeover. Would recommend plugging in with them.

The tragic Texas flood warning failure is a reminder: Government protections, like vaccines, save countless lives, but require trust and upkeep to work their quiet magic. When politicians claim these systems do more harm than good, people die. And we’re about to relearn that lesson, again and again.

When we said the United States delivered people to a Salvadoran “torture prison,” it was no exaggeration.

Ábrego García:
- Was beaten with batons
- Was forced to kneel overnight, beaten if he collapsed, made to soil himself
- Heard screams as gang members freely harmed each other
- Lost 31 pounds

You've heard about how ICE deported a bunch of adults to a Salvadoran torture prison based on their tattoos. Did you know that the Big Beautiful Police State Act includes millions to identify "gang kids" the same way?

The White House has ordered the US Dept. of Justice to prioritize denaturalization: voiding the citizenship of US citizens.

Who will it denaturalize? "Any" case that it "determines to be sufficiently important".

Point 10 leaves the criteria opaque and arbitrary.

Surprised by how many in DC are going along with the #privatization of #aid - presenting it as an incredible "opportunity" for private foundations. All too willing to obfuscate the public's responsibility to the public's well-being..
