Ah, yes. A long-time known commodity at head coach with fairly strong regular season results, but a completely barren trophy case, and is also known for being a bit of a tool.
Because that worked out *so well* for us the last time...

I do think one issue that could've massively improved our current situation is earlier and heavier regulation on algorithmic social media. Idk if Gore changes that, as it really took off under Obama to begin with, but I think content rec algos are a huge enabler of online radicalization pipelines.

Hard to say, but I think predicting Liberal Utopia on a single election flip is likely wishful thinking. Gore likely leaves us better off than Bush, but just too many variables otherwise. For instance, if GOP takes Congress in 02 midterms, could it make enough gridlock to keep Gore from re-election?

Elon is the wealthiest man on the planet and a supposed super-genius tech visionary, but he can't muster a better comeback than "no u" in this situation...

On another note, what does Obama even run on in this timeline? Anti-Bush backlash played strongly into his hope and change message. Granted, he's a brilliant orator one way or another, so he'd have a shot, but idk if a more stable start to the 21st century even sets the stage for his rise.

President Gore probably would've prevented a lot of the worst problems started under Bush, but I doubt it ALL turns out sunshine and rainbows. Obama's election still likely breaks a lot of white conservative brains, and who knows how desperate the GOP gets in the face of so many consecutive defeats?

I am skeptical that there are even any surviving copies of the Epstein files. If they're as damning as people seem to think, what would stop Trump from just having them all destroyed?

I suspect that part of it is just the brain worms common to many venture capitalists to reflexively project any exponential growth curve they see (in this case, "the abilities of AI") to continue forever into infinity.
"AI developed so much so quickly, in a few years it'll be virtually omnipotent!"

Is AI *inherently* fascist? No, but its knack for spreading misinformation is quite useful to fascists. Most ethical applications of AI are pretty small-scale, like simulations, etc, but that's not what the average person making GenAI prompts is using.

My feelings on this are... complicated. It's very possible to ethically train and use ML models, but the big general-purpose foundation models are almost invariably trained on stolen content, and LLM chatbots in particular do really bad shit to the brains of people who don't know how it works.

It's insane to me that the Bonapartes still believe themselves to be the rightful rulers of France in fuckin 2025. I'm not sure how seriously they actually take it, but it's serious enough to have a dispute over the head of the house. Maintaining the claims nearly 2 centuries later is just batshit.
