BC’s Minister of Forests, Deputy Government House Leader, Chair of Canada’s Council of Forest Ministers, MLA for Langford-Highlands.
The Premier, defining the moment for BC.

He took the stage to outline what’s in front of us, and what we must do to overcome it. To deliver for BC, and make life better.

We have a bright future as the engine of Canada economy. Under his leadership, we’ll get there.

One big family, celebrating the life of one of our heroes: Premier John Horgan.

John was a leader and an advocate, but more so, he was a friend to all. A one of a kind man.

What an honour it was to lead our celebration of John from Langford.

The first full day of convention begins.

And who better to kick it off than our hardest working friend and fighter: Grace Lore.

We’ve got a full slate of resolutions and debate ahead, so let’s get after it.

Nearly 1000 proud New Democrats, all under one roof.

From YND, to Labour, to MLAs, to First Nations, and everything in between.

A mosaic of people, all committed to a brighter future for everyone across BC.

Convention is here, starting with the YND Convention.

This was the last year I qualified to attend with the YND, but unfortunately I'm still making the journey back from South Korea.

To our Young New Democrats - make us proud.

Today, our trade mission comes home. To bring what we saw and learned in Japan and South Korea back to the

Japan and South Korea are only the start of the new global presence for BC forestry.

At the BC NDP Convention, we come together to elect the team to lead us into the future. These decisions matter not just for our movement but for people across BC who count on us to fight for them.

I’m supporting my friend Aman Singh & his incredible team of candidates.

I want to thank everyone who submitted their input on the Heritage Conservation Act Transformation Project.

Though this phase is complete, engagement doesn't stop here.

There is much still to be done, to ensure this legislature works for BC.

I'll always remember my first BC NDP Convention, meeting New Democrats from across the province alongside my friend John.

To those attending your first convention this weekend, soak it all in.

You're a part of something special.

The world needs wood product, and B.C. is the one who will supply it.

In Japan, we saw our wood being put to use. All the way across the world.

We won’t let protectionism corner us. We’re the global forestry leaders, so we’re seeking new opportunities.

Another agreement is signed. This time, between FII Canada, Canada Wood, and the Korea Land and Housing Research Institute.

This marks a major step forward in advancing low-carbon, wood-based construction in Korea using B.C's sustainable forest products & expertise.

We’re now in Seoul, South Korea, to begin the second leg of our trade mission.

Like Japan, South Korea has been a trusted trading partner of BC forestry.

It's time to strengthen that relationship, finding new opportunities and partnerships, to grow our sector at home.

After six days spent strengthening our trade relationship with Japan, we’ve already got a list of accomplishments.

We might be leaving Japan, but the largest B.C. forestry trade mission continues.

Seoul, see you soon 🇰🇷

I’ve been asked to define our trade mission to Asia. Well this is it:

Building new partnerships, finding new markets, all to support our sector back home.

Even under Trump’s tariffs and duties, we’re going to create jobs and generate investment.

One of our last stops in Japan, at the Canada Wood Forum.

Our First Nations delegates took the time to acknowledge our customers, trade partners, and trade mission organizers.

This mission wouldn’t have been possible without our First Nations forestry leaders.

It was a great opportunity to sit down with Canada's Ambassador to Japan, lan McKay, fellow BCer.

Our strategies moving forward, must be coordinated with the federal government. Whether worker supports at home, or diversification efforts abroad.

Team Canada at work.

We've forged a powerful partnership between Japan-based Wing, Centurion Lumber, Western Forest Products, and the First Nations Forestry Council.

To build a modular housing facility that will advance affordable housing on Vancouver Island.

A game changer for BC.

Forging powerful relationships means sitting down face-to-face, to make the pitch.

BC Wood hosted a great matchmaking event in Tokyo. Connecting BC value-added manufacturers with Japanese customers.

Opening doors for BC businesses and keeping our workers employed.

Miss you every day, my friend ❤️

This building was built with #BCwood

Great to see one of Mitsui Homes' new rental projects in Tokyo, and thank them for being strong partners and customers of BC wood products.

Together, we're building a seismically strong, fire-resistant, and sustainable future.

As we confront tariffs and duties, it’s clear we must work with Ottawa to transform this sector.

We cannot let our workers end up in a position like this ever again.

Now, it’s crucial to B.C. and Canada, that we support workers and diversify this forestry.

BC matters as much as any province.

Our forestry sector matters as much as any sector - steel, auto, etc.

We needed Ottawa to get on the same page, and create supports.

The summit was a commitment that they will step up and help us deliver action for our sector.

Shinohara Shoten Factory: capable of building 4,000 wood structures annually, from homes to multi-storey buildings.

They're at the forefront of Japanese housing and commercial construction.

We're here to make sure they expand their use of #BCwood.

Today, on Remembrance Day, I join Canadians at home and abroad in honouring the brave men and women who served our country.

From Japan, I pause to reflect on their courage, their sacrifice, and the freedoms we enjoy because of them.

We will always remember.

Japanese partners with Mitsubishi have relied on #BCwood for decades. You can see that right here, at their wood panel plant.

As companies invest more into the forest economy, BC will be the one to supply their wood product needs.
