Great to spend time with Susan Yurkovich and the Canfor team, alongside representatives from @PPWCUnion local 9 and @UniforTheUnion local 603 & 1133, at Canfor’s Northwood Pulp and Specialty Paper facilities.

These two facilities alone support 800 good-paying jobs.

The BC Natural Resources Forum brings people together from every corner of the sector.

I’m ready for a lot of honest, focused conversations about forging powerful partnerships that deliver for workers, strengthen communities, and build long-term stability.

Communities like Prince George are the heart of our forest industry. I stand with Mayor Yu in saying that forestry is a strategic asset for Canada.

We are going to restore confidence in this sector, moving forestry from boom & bust to long-term stability.

I want to thank West Fraser, Clauson Logging, and Integrated Operations group for making time in Quesnel.

This is commercial thinning in action. The future of forestry, as we unlock fibre while strengthening the land base.

There is no history of forestry in BC, without Prince George.

One of my top priorities ahead of the Natural Resources Forum, was meeting with the Mayor and Council.

Communities like Prince George must have a say in the direction we’re headed.

We’re working hard to forge powerful partnerships across the globe. Japan, South Korea, India, and now China.

We’re finding new markets for forestry, to ensure our world-class wood products find customers and get to market.

Today we are on the road to Quesnel. This region has relied on and driven forestry for decades.

As we go into this week, and the Natural Resources Forum in Prince George tomorrow, we will look back at 2025 and into the future in 2026.

The tariffs imposed by Trump have had a significant impact on B.C.’s and Canada’s forestry sector.

We support this renewed MOU between Canada and China. I travelled to Japan and South Korea in 2025 where multiple MOUs were signed and relationships were forged.

Over the past two years, we have had a trust in place that funds 10% of the cost of new and used logging equipment, for wildfire risk reduction work.

Speaking to the TLA, I was able to announce that know, the trust will cover 25%.

was nearly a year ago that we announced a full review of BC Timber Sales. The review concluded with 54 recommendations of what we need to do.

We began implementing them immediately.

BCTS must be a partner of choice, and work with forestry businesses across BC.

Today is the day the operators, contractors, loggers, and truckers of BC gather in Vancouver.

2025 was an incredibly challenging year, but we also saw some positive change. I want to know what worked for them, and what didn’t.

Let’s do this.

As part of my efforts to diversify our forest economy, and forge powerful partnerships with other jurisdiction to buy BC world class forests products, I’ve provided a new mandate letter for my crown forestry agency investment.

The time is now to look beyond North America, and find international trade markets.

The Premier is leading this charge. He’s looking in every corner of the globe, for new investors, customers, and clients for BC. For all of our sectors, from infrastructure to forestry.

Tomorrow, I’ll be in Vancouver for the Annual Truck Loggers Association Convention.

This convention is a chance to reflect on progress made, and future progress to create and sustain good jobs for the people who keep this sector moving.

At the end of 2025, BCTS had sold 25% more volume than they did in 2024.

There is certainly more work to do, but this is positive progress. Through BCTS, we’re utilizing more of our apportioned timber, to get local logs to local mills.

BC pays workers better than anywhere else in Canada. It’s part of what has helped build our strong, skilled workforce.

The Labour Force Survey results displays a province that pays workers fairly, drives the economy, and always looks to improve the lives of people.

We’re building a fully collaborative wildfire model in BC, and across Canada.

The Co-operators Group came to Victoria to discuss opportunities for them to help further this collaboration. To further the all-hands approach we’re taking, to protecting communities.

Since we launched our recruitment campaign to attract American healthcare workers, we’ve seen a real uptick.

We’ve hired over 140 new healthcare workers, with 1400 total applications. New nurses, new doctors, to serve our growing communities.

When your largest trade partner leaves the table, it’s time to forge new partnerships.

Good to see the Prime Minister looking abroad. But we need his govt to ensure returns for forestry.

China needs wood products like mass timber. BC is the one to meet that need.

When your largest trade partner walks away from the table, time to forge new partnerships.

Good to see the Prime Minister heading to China for trade talks.

China needs high-value wood products. We need to put BC at the forefront, to meet that need.

In 2025, BCWS fought to protect communities in the northeast.

Through increased year-round preparation, better community resilience, and greater investments.

2026 means raising the bar even higher, to get in front of the growing threat.

The Premier is forging powerful partnerships on the trade mission to India, opening doors for B.C. wood, strengthening global demand, and supporting good jobs at home.

That’s how we build a stronger B.C. economy.

We Wai First Nation, a key partner in the north island sector.

Chief Chickite and Councillor Wilson are leading the charge to put We Wai Kai First Nation at the heart of local forestry.

Their work translates to jobs and a boost for our forest economy.
