What would be a good episode of #BrianClemensThriller to watch for #Halloween? 'A Place to Die' perhaps? 🙂

A great watch tonight. 'Where the Action Is', with Edd Byrnes playing a suave, almost Bond-like character, Eddie Vallance. A completely different feel to last week's episode. #BrianClemensThriller rings the changes once again & delivers another fresh & thoroughly entertaining 65-minutes.

Clip sales to satellite & cable channels were considerably cheaper as I recall well, which I suspect was the same for programmes. In London we were 5 short of the full run of 'The Thrillers'. To this day I've never seen the TVM of 'Possession', the only one to escape me. #BrianClemensThriller.

To think the US, Canada, & Australia clocked up another 10-years of screenings is incredible. It is such a shame that we didn't benefit. I suspect we fell foul of Equity's long standing arrangement with terrestrial TV restricting the number of UK broadcasts to one. #BrianClemensThriller.

Reading the chapter in @martinmauthor1.bsky.social's book on how 'The Thrillers' package netted ITC $20-million in the first 8 months, selling to US stations. I bet many of them didn't realise it was the same series that some of them had finished repeating only a year earlier. #BrianClemensThriller.

My rewatch of #BrianClemensThriller this evening is all about gambling, & with very high stakes. Here's the London area TV Times billing from Saturday 8th February 1975, with viewers in the captial (including me) getting to see the episode at least an hour ahead of the rest of the UK.

My Saturday rewatch, 'A Killer in Every Corner' from 01/02/75. I think this must be the most disturbing #BrianClemensThriller, with the eager young science students unknowingly walking into a trap. LWT appears to have opted out of the network schedule once again broadcasting it at 8.15pm.

An unusual 'End of Part One' slide for 'Killer with Two Faces'. I cannot remember if I've noticed it before but it almost leapt off the screen at me tonight. Not the normal white caption on black. I really enjoyed watching it tonight. Ian Hendry is masterclass. #BrianClemensThriller.

Where does 'Killer with Two Faces' fall on my radar? Well, it was among the first of LWT's in 1981 & I didn't video-record it, something I later regretted. I then had to make an extra effort to try to get it recorded from another region. Success came with the Anglia broadcast. #BrianClemensThriller.

Tom Patterson was great @jabberwocky65.bsky.social. 🙂 My rewatch is tonight. #BrianClemensThriller works best for me on its original day & in its original slot. Once again it looks like I will have seen the premier of 'Killer with Two Faces' an hour earlier, at 8.15pm, than in the rest of the UK.

I've been re-reading about the broadcast history of #BrianClemensThriller in Australia, & what was an unprecedented 20-year run of the series. When the licence for the original episodes expired, they hopped over to the movie versions & carried on. Oh how we were starved of it in the UK & we made it!

Tonight another rewatch of a classic #BrianClemensThriller. Judy Geeson, Charles Gray, & Jim Smilie in 'Night is the Time for Killing, & an 8.15pm start time on LWT. Now who was watching Lulu, Kojack, or the news when this was on? LOL.

'Nurse Will Make It Better' is one of the most memorable, & one of my favourites. Diana Dors is brilliant as Bessie. It was the third off-air recording I had of the 'movie versions' in 1981-82 though retitled 'The Devil's Web', & the first of #BrianClemensThriller ever to be broadcast by Thames.

Brilliant episode! 'Nurse Will Make It Better' rewatch tonight. One thing that's continued to bother me though. Following Ruth's accident, why does the ambulance with it's blue light flashing & siren blaring, bring her to the house rather than take her to a hospital? #BrianClemensThriller.
September 13, 2025 at 9:51 PM
The original London screening of 'Nurse Will Make It Better' on 10/01/74 is in the much earlier 8.15pm spot (which is when I would have seen it) as it appears all of this particular set of episodes were. #BrianClemensThriller.
September 13, 2025 at 12:25 PM
I shall be continuing my own celebration of the 20th anniversary of the release of the Network #BrianClemensThriller DVD box set tonight at 9pm with a rewatch of 'Nurse Will Make It Better'. On disc 9 is a version with a few bits of footage not seen in the original ITV broadcast on Sat 11/01/74.

If you've got The Persuaders! either on DVD or Blu-ray, watch the episode 'Anyone Can Play'. Right at the start he is the Sussex Constabulary detective who gets ill & collapses at the casino. #BrianClemensThriller.

We had Terry & June, George & Mildred, Moody & Pegg, even a Man About the House. None of them though have ever made me laugh as much as Norman & Vera Straightman. Tonight I've almost fallen out of my chair whilst watching this pair trying to get a loan for a mortgage. A great start to my weekend.🤣🤣🤣

Very nice poster art for #HammerHouseOfHorror. Can anyone recall what they, some of which are for individual episodes & one is in French, were for? Videos? DVDs? Blu-rays? Books?

The London TV Times for 04/01/75 has the bit at the top of the page too. #BrianClemensThriller.
September 6, 2025 at 9:35 PM
Pamela Franklin stars in 'Screamer'. Another classic #BrianClemensThriller rewatch at 9pm tonight. First broadcast on ITV 4th January 1975, it looks like LWT went for an earlier 8.15pm timeslot, opting out from the rest of the network. Was there anywhere else that broadcast it at 8.15pm?
