I suppose I'm a progressive vegan nerd. I'm also a recovering sports enthusiast.
The real question, then, is WWTAODD?

Correct. And in many cases, individuals have little choice in the matter. But in many cases, we do.

This was an entertaining and thoughtful video, but I'm left disappointed. For 2 reasons:
1) Consent ought to be the top issue in this discussion.
2) The idea of personal responsibility for choices is just hand-waved as corporate propaganda, ignoring that corporations fulfill our demands.

Ah thanks!

What's the thing called when the poll workers can't verify your identity , so they put your ballot in an envelope with all relevant information so that they can count the vote later, at least if the result is close enough? That's the thing that needs to happen.

I wouldn't describe this as a "problem," but I would like to see the run/win probability difference both assuming that the pickoff was independent of the missed call, or as a direct result of the missed call. This is just to satisfy curiosity, and it might provide the "clarification."

Ok... so the entire text exchange is bonkers, but I just can't get over the DOJ comment on response when confirming the authenticity of the texts. It looks like a mean message I might write to a classmate when I was 12.

Giving Baltar access to nukes (and to all of the fleet software) seemed a bit implausibly irresponsible when BSG first aired. Now it seems pretty reasonable. At least he was part of the government, and they put some thought into whether or not the emergency warranted the risks...

I lost interest in the first season. Years later, a friend told me to try the 3rd season. I watched a season 1/2 recap and went for it. The 32nd century stuff was much more to my liking!

I'm not normally a fan of pre-game anthems, just looking at the history of why it became standard, and now with the US trade war against Canada...but holy crap, this was amazing.

It took right up until the last moments, but I'm relieved that you partially addressed the primary stakeholders on this issue: The sentient beings we often choose to bring into existence without consent. Looking forward to part 2 being all about them.

I would like to point out another potential phantasm: "Anyone concerned about overpopulation is both wrong, and serving some nefarious political agenda."

It depends on whether or not you think it's ok for humans to take over the entire planet, displace/brutalize animals, and constantly wage war.

I'm almost halfway through. I'm eagerly awaiting the appearance of @lesuknight.bsky.social and the Voluntary Human Extinction Movement. Am I going to be disappointed? It was sort of foreshadowed?

He needs to bring out some old (toxic?) hockey coach inspiration: Winning is fun.
October 23, 2025 at 4:49 AM
Well to be fair to you, he also made it sound like it would be fun.
October 23, 2025 at 4:30 AM
To be fair, that was a key pillar of the whole "elbows up" thing. Canadians were supposedly ready, willing, and capable of fighting longer than Americans were willing to.

2 big baserunning mistakes to kill potential rallies...so...no? But the Jays kept grinding out the runs like they have all season, so it probably didn't matter.

Now show the angle with Clement laughing 😅
