A rollercoaster victory in Sacramento marked by two dueling superstars.

Anthony Edwards entered the Avatar state, Mike Conley was the embodiment of the Undertaker meme, and Julius Randle had us singing some Avril Lavigne… because our feelings about his game were oh so complicated.

Woof. Well, two seasons into releasing postgame pod episodes, this was the low point. Was it bad enough that the normal award ceremony just dissolved into a roast session?

Yes, yes it was.

No pod tonight with a west coast b2b, we’ll be back tomorrow. But the awards for tonight:

Jake Layman Award: Julius Randle

Gets top billing because… *gestures to TV* Complete lack of defensive intensity and close outs that would feel at home in a 40 year+ rec league. 3-9 shooting and 4 TOs. Yuck.

The Little Ticket Award: Naz Reid

On most nights, his 28pt efficient effort would get him the big ticket award. He was awesome on the offensive end, but this game comes down as a referendum on a Wolves team that didn’t respect the game.

Back-to-back losses where the opponent out hustled you.

Big Ticket Award: Nickeil Alexander-Walker

Wins the award since he was the only player that showed some heart on the defensive end of the floor. The statline doesn’t pop (8pts, 3 steals and 2 assists) but if you watched the game, you noticed a level of play his teammates weren’t interested in.

Hard to not overreact after that Wolves game... this team plays entitled and with low effort; the only things that can make me not have fun watching a team.

Randle can go ahead and find another team to play for; I'm good
