Had this conversation so many times and my conclusion is we will never reduce flying as a source of CO2. It’s not going to happen. The world is too dependent on it. Those that have stopped make no impact all. Sorry but that’s the reality on this one. It’s a lost cause to campaign for.

Well as currently there seems no accepted way of identifying Scottish 100%, I’m in limbo on this one. Any records submitted are held “pending” and the Highland Bird Report lists “claims of”.

Listened to a few recordings before it, it’s a Robin, learning that their repertoire is far from simple !!

If it was feeding on closed Scots cones then unlikely it’s Common I think.

Good indicator is type of cones ie closed green, closed brown or open. I think Common just can’t manage closed Scots Pine cones brown or green. If slicing open green cones almost certainly a Parrot Crossbill.

Yes agree it does look rather chunky for Common, but as Steve says very hard to judge at an angle. Did you notice what cones it was feeding on?

I’ve picked them up heading south over the Cairngorms at night in the past, interesting overland passage !

Bauer Media bought out local stations, centralised it all. Sold off the MFR building in Inverness. How ScotGov let this happen is unbelievable. All they do is have local ads and some local news still for each station.

Yep.

Bauer Media have been allowed to effectively destroy the local radio station network in Scotland which provided an essential service with no intervention whatsoever. MFR building now up for sale.

Yep they finally woke up, though still very little coverage. “Local”radio news now all centralised didn’t even mention. More important was block of flats being demolished in Glasgow. Highland now has no local radio station to broadcast info when major events like this happen.
