Deep love and respect for Indonesia. It's my Roman empire.

Ana ora barang anyar ing bumi kené.
Bahasa Indonesia, lho. Udah 30 tahun bicara. Sering bikin kesalahan tapi bangga bisa dipahami org pribumi.

Same thing happened in craft spaces. No more written tutorials with photos, always just "video tutorial". No. Fuck off. If I'm accessing a tutorial it's only to find a small bit of clarification, and scrolling through video is painful.

I have a sewing machine, fabric and a cricut. I imagine I'll just set myself up as a master counterfeiter.

We need to put a message out that this is the equivalent of making a small regional city unemployed.

And I'm sure that most of that 41000 will be front line. We need to ask where the cuts will be? How will this blow out the wait times on the phone for Services Australia? Or

Reminds me of a joke made in Indonesia, about how the word for politics - politikus - comes from the Greek 'poli' meaning 'many' and the Malay 'tikus' meaning 'rat'.

I'd be more worried about how they fund travel costs if/when Glory or a Kiwi club get relegated

Those are most of the books my stepkid loves to read. Those are also the books we look for in French to encourage his second language skills. And those books don't stop him from having a go at longer and more wordy books.

I cannot emphasise enough how rare it is for a fire to kill so many of us in one go. The 2019/2020 Black Summer blazes burnt 60 times the area, but only killed 34 people. Hearing the news come out of Kinglake and Marysville was just a kick after kick to our guts.

Umberto Eco wrote some great explanations and discussions about translating novels in a book called (in English) Mouse Or Rat. Strong recommend to read if this sort of thing interests you.

And if you've ever read any of his novels, you'll know what a challenge it would be to translate.

We missed the opportunity, but we could have revived the Australian sitcom format with a show in the vein of That's My Bush called Oh No, Scomo!

One of the paid streamers has Hill Street Blues, and it absolutely worked for a binge watch. My taller half and I got hooked on it quickly.

God, I came close to losing my everloving shit at the faculty when they rejigged my Masters of Editing and forced me to take creative writing classes. The memories and 'feedback' are still stressful and pretentious.

My personal bete noir was the statement of who your audience was. No-one, that's who. When my writing flows it gets abstruse and complex and unfollowable, and I hate creative writing anyway, I have the soul of an editor, not an artist. I'm only writing for me, and for a grade mark.
