My librarian suggested I try H2G2 and Pern and changed my reading forever. She also showed me a cupboard under the desk, said "these books are the 'naughty' ones, but I reckon your mum won't mind." And she would read us Canterbury Tales with appropriate accent. I should find out how she is.
I just learned my childhood librarian has passed away and I'm feeling a little sad about it. I think I'll go re-read "Dogsbody" in her honor this weekend.
