That's a good note, but that's all I could see looking through Learn. In workspaces create gen1 is a "hidden" option and you get "reminded" that Gen2 is the future. It's confusing to customers.

Labels like Gen1 and Gen2 imply that Gen1 will be retired. Clients want to hear from Microsoft that Gen1 has a future. I will continue to recommend Gen1 to clients even those with Fabric to balance their workloads. A clear statement is needed.

The ability to reuse processed data that a dataflow gives is a core feature clients use, from the simplest standard calendar through to standard sales data tables rather than each semantic model importing it themselves and potentially having different ETL. They would love to stay on Pro or PPU.

We need to know there is a future for the data later in Power BI. Dataflow Gen1 looks to be being retired on the site and gen2 requires fabric. It is easy to see where the concern comes from. I have clients looking to start Power BI with 5-10 seats, even an F2 is a non-starter for that.
