Well that's 300km in 2026. Still on track for my annual goal.

Great way to start the day, really clears your head. #running #jesmonddene #headspace #mentalwellbeing

Such a can of worms this week. Preview feature should not be used in production... But that requires clarity on when features will go GA after preview. UDFs are being pushed by many but they go against Microsoft's own Adoption Framework... #PowerBI #UDF #DataDrivenBusiness

Well... What can I say, the weather has been wet all week so your feet will also be wet by the end of parkrun...

It'll still be a great start to your weekend though!

Longer one this morning including Jesmond Dene parkruns infamous "Bob"... Still raining so I'm sure "Bob" is getting bigger and deeper... #JesmondDene #parkrun #running #headspace

So we're doing some internal testing on the report being released on Monday... Anyone want a sneak peak? This ultimately is the report that started the parkrun report pack. This is now a great training tool with public health potential. #powerBI #training

Watch how we can simplify our measures by using a UDF. We'll walk through that whole process and help you use it in your organisation. We'll share the report next week with UDF fully integrated. Like and share.

Gentle recovery run today. Still raining ☔

Another day with The Puddle! I don't think it's going anywhere soon, may well be here for a few weeks. All while the ground either side gets churned up more and more... You're much better off just running through it! Could still do with two volunteers. #JesmondDene #parkrun #running #headspace

Ended up doing a shorter route than planned... I was running late 🤣

Crossed the 10% mark of my 2000km this year target, so that's a positive.

On another note is Wordle making a statement with the last 3 words (at least)?

Safe to say the rain yesterday had an impact 🤣

Also are this year's storm names from Sci-fi?

Bit more of a technical one this week. Trying to gently introduce and demonstrate context in Power BI. As a foundational concept it seems simple, but then you realise it is a rabbit hole... I hope this proves useful to people. #PowerBI #PowerBITraining #DataModelling #context

I'm back to thinking I'm being spied on 🤣. We started a conversation on disconnected slicers last week to extend and finish it on Monday and someone else jumps in...

Great to see more people learning this simple but vital part of #PowerBI #Microsoft #DataAnalytics #Youtube

Well good news bad news around Jesmond Dene parkrun course... The fence has been fixed but the puddle is back... We need to name that puddle (and son of puddle (or daughter) above it)... 🤷 #parkrun #jesmonddene #running

What a difference a day makes. It was so misty yesterday my head torch was nearly useless... Today completely clear... #JesmondDene #Running

Mist and snowdrops... Does that make for a good run or what 🤣 #running

Done about half my morning run, just waiting for Town Moor Juniors to start, then I'll do another 10k... It was dark out this morning. #parkrun #running
January 18, 2026 at 9:04 AM
Not saying setup was dark this morning but they even had the luminous lichen out for us - everyone knows Heroes need luminous lichen to see! #JesmondDene #parkrun #DnDRPG

Blood day today #239 done Platelets and Plasma as usual. More faith in humanity lost as they've had to move the seats for platelet donors because whole blood donors were complaining platelet donors were being "seen first" - Different clinic, different appointments 🤦 #people #NHS #BloodDonation
January 16, 2026 at 12:50 PM
That's a good note, but that's all I could see looking through Learn. In workspaces create gen1 is a "hidden" option and you get "reminded" that Gen2 is the future. It's confusing to customers.
January 14, 2026 at 7:42 PM
Labels like Gen1 and Gen2 imply that Gen1 will be retired. Clients want to hear from Microsoft that Gen1 has a future. I will continue to recommend Gen1 to clients even those with Fabric to balance their workloads. A clear statement is needed.
January 14, 2026 at 6:48 PM
The ability to reuse processed data that a dataflow gives is a core feature clients use, from the simplest standard calendar through to standard sales data tables rather than each semantic model importing it themselves and potentially having different ETL. They would love to stay on Pro or PPU.
January 14, 2026 at 6:30 PM
We need to know there is a future for the data later in Power BI. Dataflow Gen1 looks to be being retired on the site and gen2 requires fabric. It is easy to see where the concern comes from. I have clients looking to start Power BI with 5-10 seats, even an F2 is a non-starter for that.
January 14, 2026 at 6:16 PM
Wow, still frozen out there. Morning sprints in thick frost are fun 🤣. Tough session but fun... 96/2000km for 2026 #running #JesmondDene #headspace

I think I'll be off the Microsoft Christmas Card list already... Is that a record?

Seriously though are they gutting Power BI on the quiet?

Squeaky bum time - a particularly tense period of time, especially one leading up to the climax of a competition or event: parkrun yesterday
08:00 beautiful blue sky but cold,
08:10 snow
08:25 snow stops
09:02 Go!
09:30 heavy snow starts
09:45 hmmmm is it still safe
10:03 Tail finishes
