Beyond new leaf and dewy blade, The morning sun straining to lift, The humid air where pollen drifts, Among branches dampened with shade. A lake; your footprint’s sunken ground Stamped out, and willow twines Hang lithely from your gaping Mouth, distant drums begin to sound. Followed arm-in-arm, the Woodwose Towards a brighter light ascends, Birds mimic him, till twilight ends A proud pageant, garlanded home. And little eyes, so awed by Jack, The Green Man, softly smiling back. Sown by pale and fragile hands, a tapestry of future colour, carefully buried; patted and watered. Wait for the patient Beltane sun. Birthed into brave viridescence, glow beneath a chill wind; emerald girl to change the tide and carry home a new moon. Aurora breathes her green sigh, she whispers, ‘soon’. Forget time. The dandelion, almost bare, leaves its future to the air. Entrusting in the artist’s use, of yellow against the chartreuse.
