Picture of the British DH100 - de Havilland Vampire LZ548/G flying right to left. It was first flown on 20th September 1943 at Hatfield by Geoffrey de Havilland son of the founder. It was the first plane to break 500 miles per hour, and despite being planning in 1941 never saw any 'official' airtime during the war as it joined the RAF in 1946.
