We found that family members of children living with cCMV identified a series of missed opportunities in the process of seeking a diagnosis for their child's impairment. This caused anxiety and distress and had knock-on effects for access to interventions and treatment.

We conducted a secondary analysis of responses to the UK National Screening Committee's 2021-22 public consultation on cCMV policy. The consultation received over 150 responses, which made it a uniquely large and rich source of qualitative data.
