I love this art though. Probably one of my favorite pieces of Orchid art actually.

I'm not saying that's never happened, but it's way more likely they just end up watering down their own beliefs for the purposes of keeping the peace and call it a win when their worst relative starts saying "transgenders" instead of a slur.

Just a moment ago, the child was playing in the meadow with the others. Just a moment ago, their brother's mother looked at them like another of her own children. Just a moment ago, they were a person in the crowd's eyes. They didn't know what the stares from the adults meant. They didn't know what the feeling of sickness, The smell of secondhand disgust, pooling in their chest was. They reached hesitantly to their brow, where everyone was staring. Where something was wiggling against their brow. They've touched this before. Segmented, pointed horns, gently twisting and curling. The same as their mother. The one they weren't allowed to call their mother. Their father stepped forward from the gawkers. His steps were heavy, almost stumbles. The child had never seen their father like this. A trembling hand reached out for their father's. The mans hand founds the child's wrist first. No amount of tugging and whining could loosened his white knuckle grip. The man gaze shifted rapidly between his child and the crowd. A thousand thoughts flashed behind his eyes. A thousand idea's discarded. The final option need only be spoken. He cast aside his child's hand. His next statement was heavy with emotion. "Get it out of my sight." Blade at the ready, the knight trudged forward. Facing a Succubus in such an environment is a death sentence. Their wicked magic can alter and warp all that was born from nature. The medium of this vile art is any liquid or vapor that originates from their body. Mortal bodies are, unfortunately, "born from nature." A Death sentence, if you did not possess an armored suit of twice forced steel, filtered and sealed with twice treated fabrics and leathers. The order spared no expense for this plate. The honor of our prize would be but one of many repayments, so they would say. Breathing through cloth filters so heavy no vapor could pass was hardly easy. Movements must be precise and measured, lest exhaustion quickly take you. A sudden alarming ripple in the surface of the water. *A warning.* With a purposeful, prolonged exhale, embers began to spark and rise from the heavy steel plates. *A warning in return.* The knight did not come unprepared. Magic to fight magic. For as dangerous as their magic was, humans could return the fury ten fold. The medium of humanities magic was the very air they breathed. Magics of base elements were nothing to magics of air, ether and energy. Except, as he returned to his prey, the glint of the steel hilt was nowhere to be found. His blood froze as a shadow passed over him. A ripple of water further announced a foreboding presence. *No... I was sure... She was recognizably humanoid enough. Nudity tempered by chitinous ridging all along her body. A long powerful body made sharp with defined muscle and insectile armoring. Striking, scowling amber eyes upon a sharp, hauntingly fey visage. Her face was framed in twitching curling segmented horns, and wet hair. Beauty, if it was defined only in words of violence. The worming mass squirmed from the water, still bearing the marks of the battle. Its snaking form trailed around them, joining at the small of her back. Talon tipped, roach-scale armored fingers ripped the intruding blade from her tail, callously dropping it back into the swamp. This was no mindless beast. Her deception had proven otherwise. "I suppose..." Her voice, of cutting cruel gravel, pulled the knight from his shocked stupor. "This is where they tell you that, I'm supposed to enslave and ravish you..." A single sharp talon, digging into his chin pulled his gaze up. "Cute, but unfortunately I have other plans for your 'meat...'" The powers that be, that enslave Succubae, hide one truth above all others. There is no sensation more intoxicating to them than intimate, complete murder. To feel the boundaries of another's mind blur into yours, as you devour them whole. An addicting, wine-scent of death to complete the meal. A shaped began to bubbled from the blood, the stale water, and the writhing insects derelict on its surface. Pulling itself from the embryo of Filth; Skin, scale and hair slowly coalesced. The succubus slowly rose anew from the vile womb. Taller and bearing far less unhuman forms. No amount of flesh craft could remove the markers of her being. Insectile scales still dotted her body like irregular scarring, as her now smaller horns bound themselves into tight spirals and hid under framing bangs. Her diminished tail held itself tight against her spine, twitching legs played a soothing, silent drumbeat on her skin. Hiding herself like this filled her with a momentary disgust. To go as far as "Demons" like her have and to return to mimicking a docile human form was unthinkable. An act of acquiescence to everything they have faced. Her hardened gaze turned to the suit of armor slowly sinking into the mud. Eyes tracing the marking of the order of Salomon's sigil and the rank markings. "Our scheme is underway... Sister."
