Yes, I vaguely recall Redcap, about military police. Don't remember watching it - but I was a sulky teenager living at my parents' when it was broadcast, and what was on our telly was pretty much my mother's choice. Anyway I probably didn't leave my room much, when I was in, hehe.

You should sleep like a wolfhound on a posh person's hearthrug tonight. Good luck.

Speaking of which, right on cue:
'Astronomers have studied the Moon for over 2,000 years. Here's what we still can't explain about it.'

I think there's a theory held that the spectacular ring system is the result of (a) moon/s shattered by collision and/or gravitational forces. While Earth's Moon, without which life could never have developed, is anomalous, begging various theories as to its formation.

Yes - he was one of those men who had an old-looking face, even as a young fellow. Plus as you imply, the different perspective our own relative age gives! 😃

Here's another interesting one, listing snippets of info about black holes.

Previous post, btw, is:
'Mysterious moons of our solar system.' Title should have been in the gap, but I was distracted by Able educating me wrt an esoteric aspect of music recordings.
Annoyingly imo, you can't edit posts on here once they're up. Ah well...

'Excitement' is overrated imo. Calm, quiet relaxation is best. 'No alarms and no surprises, please' as the song says.

So annoying when your parents went to the trouble and expense. It for sure doesn't give us confidence that vital mail is getting delivered, let alone in a timely manner. I get hospital letters online, but a hard copy would be better, especially as with no smartphone, I can't click the link!

Sorry about the spelling error!🙂

Loved The Sweeny! Yet another show they couldn't make nowadays.

Plus obviously the post is slow and unreliable!

And of course Royal Mail was sold off, so they're struggling to make a profit from a dwindling market. Even greetings cards, people are using digital, as physical cards are dear and the cost of postage puts the tin lid on it.

Depends what you mean by 'post'. For sure there's much less so-called junk mail; advertisers are switching to digital means. Even legit orgs inc. NHS, banks, councils etc. are trying to get everybody paperless; do we believe they care about the planet, or is it the cost?🤔

Able never had a blazer, but his mate did, and as he stood outside their accommodation in the village, he startled some people. They'd thought he was a dummy; then he moved!😀But once you've seen the Prisoner shop and its stock, you've seen it. Going there every day for a week, just cuz you can🤔...

I did think Connery was the ideal Bond wrt classic 'tall, dark and handsome' looks, and his mannerisms, expressions and deportment; but that accent was, um, confusing...😀
November 13, 2025 at 6:00 PM
However, Able's mates used to stay there a week every year for ages, doing the same things every day, mostly. Visiting the Prisoner shop, popping out to Porthmadog for the afternoon, and filming one another larking about in the village, soon gets old, in Able's opinion - but not in theirs, haha...

It is disgraceful. Such an iconic catchphrase. I was horrified, some years ago to learn that most of these Millennials, Gen Z etc., had never heard of the Prisoner or Portmeirion.

To each their own. But even an ad some years ago advised to 'spread it good and thin, mind, cuz there's lots of savoury taste there' (or similar). I do like it,, but always thin. Never had a toastie as such, but yes, yum on toast under grilled cheese!

Btw I did speak to Steve Feltham, many years ago, and his opinion at the time was that 'Nessie' is a large catfish.
