This is so true. I left an abusive relationship 6 and half years ago: only now am I really starting to process it (covid and kids have added to length of recovery. I've had to spend all that time fighting for the kids to get the support they need which means my recovery has been on the back burner).

Healing from abuse is not about “letting it go”—it’s about processing the pain and finding ways to move forward.

Rushing a survivor’s healing or invalidating their emotions can cause more harm. Be patient and supportive instead.
