So no Dems or major news media are going to treat the more than a thousand people disappeared from Alligator Alcatraz as a story worthy of persistent pressure?

Got it.

Can you name the Minnesota lawmaker who was assassinated recently? An elected official was assassinated three months ago, and we barely heard her name (Melissa Hortman).

In other words, in terms of sustainability it doesn't matter whether an airline is owned by billionaires or workers. The problem is that the airline exists.

Post-scarcity leftists believe there is enough to go around for us to have a wealthy, egalitarian society. Very nice, but environmentally clueless. "Economic development," as we understand it, is environmentally unsustainable. Planet first.

It's tragic, to me, that Derrick Jensen is a TERF.

Steely Dan's Gaucho (the song) is the only song I can think of where the music and the lyrics have two different points of view.

When journalists report on ICE raids, they should apply the same skepticism they do for other things. "A group of men dressed as federal agents rounded up a number of Latinos at a Home Depot yesterday afternoon. It is unclear whether the masked men were members of ICE or imposters."

Any Democratic politician who tries to smear Mamdani is damaging their own political future and has definitely lost my vote. I'll be checking on the incumbents on the next ballot here for criticism of Zohran Mamdani. That's going to be my #1 litmus test.

The purpose of asking Mamdani over and over to condemn “globalize the intifada” is to create the impression he actually said that, and he didn’t.

But the smear campaign is working. Many people now think he did say that. It’s insidious, dishonest, and essentially racist.

Images of Trump's failed parade and the amazing 11 million strong No Kings turnout are giving me a welcome feeling of relief that I expect to last all day. I am glad that I showed up and contributed to that 11 million.

you mean violence from ICE, the National Guard, and Border Patrol, right? because that’s the violence we’re seeing right now
Violence must stop, and we need to keep the focus on protecting fundamental rights.

There is nothing President Trump would like more than a violent confrontation with protestors to justify the unjustifiable — invocation of the Insurrection Act or some form of martial law.

When I say you don’t have to worry about microplastics in your brain I mean that there is much stronger evidence that you should be worrying about other things that you don’t ever think about, like the draining of peatlands for agriculture, and things that you think about all the time, like fascism.

Trump is saying the negative effects of the tariffs are short term pain for long term gain. His supporters are buying it, but they think the short term pain is going to end in a few weeks, when that's probably about how long it will take for the pain to start.
