The only safe place to use LLMs is in a field where you are already skilled enough to know you would never trust AI. So you might as well not.

We’ve got to start insisting on this Catch 22 being understood in all workplaces: AI only replaces workers too incompetent to notice it doesn’t work.

I wish you were wrong and I fear you may be right.
I‘m not sure whether the fact that it absolutely doesn’t have to be this way makes it more infuriating or is a source of some solace.

This idea was included in Germany‘s constitution in 1949.

Art. 14 (which guarantees private property) explicitly states that the use of private property should benefit the public.

It’s a pity - though not much of a surprise - that this tends to be overlooked in real life.

For all of the USA’s flaws the dream to become better, to live up to a better vision of oneself was something I always admired. Past tense alas.

This electoral strategy pushes politics further to the right. As decades of academic research have shown, it serves mainly to help far-right parties while hurting centre-left parties, which end up losing (young, female) progressive voters and barely gaining the (male) reactionary voters they court.

Also a great example of why LLMs are not a search engine. It's not giving you background information. It's doing pattern recognition to give you an answer. It cannot evaluate what information it retrieves from its dataset or scrapes from the web. It just jams shit together.

So much of alt-right or neo-right or (insert their current anodyne identity here) behavior boils down to a) wanting to behave like an asshole; but b) not be treated like one.

Trumps actions make more sense, if you consider that he does neither know nor care about the actual presidency. He’s cosplaying a president with dictatorial powers unconstrained by law or separation of powers. To him repelling an invasion is more fun than deporting people. Never mind the law.

The biggest scam tech companies ever pulled was making the term “AI” so ubiquitous that if you say large/small language model or transformer or generative automation everyone always says “oh you mean AI.” No, I don’t, actual artificial intelligence *is not real.*
