I really think this is something to monitor moving fwd - it's becoming increasingly worse for the large tech companies the way that OpenAI is growing / financing deals. The hyperscalers would be better off in a world where OpenAI cannot unlock funding / scale compute to meet revenue growth
it will be interesting to see how much pressure if applied on OpenAI if their capabilities, revenue, and platform base continue to grow. The incentive for OpenAI to succeed aligns with NVDA, AMD, and AVGO as much as it doesn't align with the hyperscalers (despite one of them owning 49% of OpenAI)
Obviously NVDA bringing down the AI complex but doesn't really make sense for AVGO to be down...

Sec Bessent just indicated on @cnbc.com that Trump initiated the call (assuming I heard that correctly)
Good @wsj.com piece on the rarity of today's Trump-Xi phone call ...

"The only instance in recent decades when a Chinese leader initiated contact with an American president was on Sept. 11, 2001, when then-President Jiang Zemin sent a telegram of condolence to then-President George W. Bush... "
China’s Xi Calls Trump in Unusual Move to Discuss Taiwan, Ukraine
The two leaders spoke as Washington, Kyiv and Moscow try to hammer out a plan to end the Russia-Ukraine war.

Of note, I believe the OC of the 2014 Raiders was Greg Olson who was just named, once again, the interim OC for the Raiders

Feels like this is a good template of how Data Center projects need to be structured from an energy standpoint in order to improve energy affordability:

Amazon plans to invest $15 billion in Northern Indiana to build new data center campuses and advance AI innovation
Planned investment will create 1,100 jobs and support new workforce development training programs and local community projects.

Cramer keeps saying that someone needs to "write a check" to AAPL to be the model provider on AAPL devices. Unless I am missing something, we have reporting from @markgurman.bsky.social that AAPL is actually paying GOOGL ~$1bn for Gemini next year

Restaurants all strong today
EAT TXRH SG CMG (relatively) - all holding up relatively well today. Interesting given these (specifically DRI EAT TXRH) were some of the first to break really hard in mid Sept

this is playing out - expect it to continue
This being said - I expect to see an off ramp from the White House on eco issues. We already saw a 10% decrease in tariffs with China, I would expect to see more

I’m not sure if they would consider a new pause on student loan payments, but I could see it as they blame the Fed

Worth watching

Circling back on this - interesting price action today in BLK would indicate that there is likely some bitcoin pressure on shares...

APO OWL BX -> held up well
IVZ STT -> same

BLK -2.24%

@michaelsantoli.bsky.social
interesting, I hadn't thought of the bitcoin angle - I initially thought it was their push into private credit + infra buildouts via acquisitions of GIP and HPS creating the underperformance STT and IVZ. Mgmt pushed it as a way to boost the multiple (looks like they might've timed that wrong)
