Educators would love that. Having Halloween in the middle of a school week is a nightmare for teachers.

It means that if the rule of law is disregarded, by the Executive ignoring due process or court orders, it will lead, eventually, to the death of the law itself.

Logistically impossible. 2.1M troops can’t control 330M people across 3.8M sq miles. Most wouldn’t obey unlawful orders. Resistance would be widespread, decentralized, and hard to suppress.

Instead, we should project firm expectation: the executive must follow the law and obey court orders. Failing to assert this signals surrender, as if we’ve already accepted being overrun.

It’s true the judiciary has limited enforcement power, but constantly emphasizing that fact only feeds a defeatist mindset.
April 17, 2025 at 5:10 PM
Absolutely. A functioning democracy depends on the rule of law applying to everyone, especially those in power. When we lower our expectations or stay silent in the face of defiance, we’re not being realistic, we’re being complicit.

Agreed. I'm hoping his administration's misdeeds will ultimately come to light and justice will prevail, hopefully sooner rather than later.

Fed. Judge repeatedly mentioning "2 weeks" is a giant, neon red, flashing WARNING sign

2 weeks is the minimum required notice to hold a party in contempt if they don't comply.

She's basically telling Ensign to pack a toothbrush if this doesn't get done.
Xinis: I'm also going to issue a written letter how you'll get expedited review in this process if meet and confer isn't workable. If everyone operating in good faith, it'll get done in 2 weeks. If not that'll be fact in itself for court to consider

I hate to sound callous, because I do care about Mr Garcia's well-being, but the bigger issue at hand is preserving the checks and balances of our government. If it takes two weeks to do this right, it takes two weeks.
