Free speech and free expression are not a left or right thing ... they're an American thing the world has long envied. We cannot jeopardize what was long fought for and still must be.
Actor and activist Jane Fonda has relaunched the Committee for the First Amendment first backed by her father Henry Fonda in 1947, to fight against what the group calls a “coordinated campaign” from the Trump administration to curb freedom of expression. https://wapo.st/4nxKYQw

Smile-worthy story. I love the Wayback Machine and have used it more than once to find pages in a website I no longer own. History deserves to be preserved and not deleted or tampered with just to serve political purposes.
The Wayback Machine doesn’t just save websites: it saves birthdays. 🎂

1 trillion pages archived. Even recipes, traditions, & memories live on.

One more reason we need to keep funding medical research, even if we can't be sure where each and every bit if research will eventually wind up. Science is not the enemy. It holds the key to finding cures for people we love!
Five years ago, a very close relative died of a glioblastoma brain tumor at the age of 13. Today would have been his 19th birthday. And now comes news that an mRNA vaccine is being trialed to treat this very (incurable) malady. Fingers crossed.

Healthy eating is often prescribed as a way to help safeguard & enhance #health. And for someone like me with #ME/CFS it can be key to daily energy. But it ain't easy figuring out what "eating healthy" in all its combinations and permutations actually means for you!

AI gives us easy answers, though not always totally right ones. But no easy answers for the soaring energy needs they require.
Data centers that run the Internet & AI computations, will face increasing political pressure as prices & emissions rise. The way forward for them is to invest in communities with enough clean power to share, keep costs down, & get to zero water consumption. My Policy Brief: fas.org/publication/...

Sometimes our feelings run wild, even with concrete reasons giving root to them. A good first step is to stop, take some calming breaths, and acknowledge that there's stuff going on inside with a life of its own, apart from outside forces.

Inspiring story. The kind of scientific determination and perseverance I fear we may be dampening.
Dr. Katalin Karikó spent decades experimenting with mRNA. She was scoffed at, demoted, and eventually forced to retire. Then, she won the Nobel Prize.

Interesting segment from Science Friday on childhood trauma. Unfortunately, existing research has a number of flaws but there is some potential good news about mitigating factors.
We know that experiences from our childhood, both good and bad, shape who we become as adults. But, understanding what kinds of early experiences have staying power into adulthood and the wide range of impacts they can have is an emerging science.

Thanks for finding this, Dorlee! Setting boundaries ... so difficult for some and yet so essential.
So important! > “Setting limits for yourself is one way to re-parent yourself. Boundaries give you the limits, security, and structure that you didn’t get as a child.” #selfcare #boundaries #wellbeing
An integral part of being a healthy adult is establishing limits for ourselves – making choices that are in our own best interest even when they aren’t enjoyable in the moment.
