Although the new pope supports more input on policy and doctrine from lay people and women, he will probably disappoint progressives on abortion and gender. Yet overall, Pope Leo’s Vatican is clearly tilting further left
Pope Leo XIV is infuriating MAGA Catholics

Cheers to the University of California, which did not bow or kowtow to the government’s illegal withholding of funds. The UC system deserves to count the first and second ranked public universities (Cal and UCLA) among its institutions.

And I am an alum of the University of Virginia.
The NIH has confirmed that it is complying with court orders and re-instating $500 million in frozen research grants to UCLA, Vice Chancellor for Research & Creative Activities Roger Wakimoto wrote today. He says workers “have shown great resilience in this challenging time.”

Tortious interference in *an election* is not a thing. Least of all via speech.
Tortious interference is very much one of those torts that I constantly find myself explaining does not mean what you think it means.
I know, I know, everything he says is nonsense, but claiming that the NY Times may have committed "tortious interference" for accurately quoting legal experts saying Trump's legal claims against CBS are baseless is... so beyond stupid.

I don't really care what the "political consequences" are of fighting for the proposition that *everyone* is entitled to due process before they are removed from the United States and sent to a Salvadoran prison.

It's not really a principle if you only adhere to it when it's politically expedient.

“One Day, Everyone Will Have Always Been Against This.”

A devastating and appropriately challenging title. I, and we—the Episcopal Church—are against it now and forever. Our Savior has taught to us welcome the Stranger as Himself.
One of many moments in Omar El Akkad’s new book, “One Day, Everyone Will Have Always Been Against This,” that will stop you in your tracks.
