The Edmund Fitzgerald sank 50 years ago today. The next year, the singer-songwriter Gordon Lightfoot chronicled the tragedy in an unlikely hit single.

Hmmm. I wonder why there seem to be so many gambling scandals involving athletes. Here’s an article from a media outlet with a relationship with MGM Bet

David Letterman bringing out Warren Zevon’s guitar from his final Late Show performance to be played at his induction. I’m not crying. 😭 #rockhall

Fitting that we get a Stanley Cup Game 7 OT atmosphere in a Canadian World Series.

The DEFENSE in this World Series has been next level.

It would be so fitting for all the drama…
What if the World Series ends with a walk or hit by pitch.

What if we have #WorldSeries shrimp? Has a walkoff walk ever happened in the World Series?? @jaysonst.bsky.social

Friendly reminder that Republicans are garbage, entirely devoid of empathy, compassion, or honor. They are terrified little babies who are filled with hate, scared to death of anything they don't understand. And they don't understand most things, because they are also deeply incurious.

Random #WorldSeries thing that only I (and maybe @jaysonst.bsky.social) may find interesting:
Graig Nettles made his MLB debut in 1967. In his final season, he was a teammate of Randy Johnson on the Expos, who was a teammate of Max Scherzer at the Diamondbacks, who is active with Toronto tonight.

How’s this for an omen: Hal Newhouser and Mickey Lolich are the only two Tigers leftys to win a "winner-take-all" postseason game. BOTH did it on October 10th. Skubal would become the third if the Tigers win. #mlbpostseason @jaysonst.bsky.social

An unintended consequence of the death of cursive writing is the fact that there are dedicated people on the internet that have to decode signatures because people can’t read them. If I were a celebrity I’d make sure to sign every letter of my name legibly so future generations would know.

I had a whole story ready to publish about this convention center vote, but Yaroslavsky's speech — one of the most powerful I’ve ever seen on the council floor — said it better than I ever could. It's a must-read, and I also included a link to the video
"This expansion is unrealistic, unaffordable, and fiscally irresponsible"
Katy Yaroslavsky's words are about the city's convention center — but they are really about the city
