When I was there a couple years ago there was a line of a couple dozen to touch the statue. Mostly women & kids. I remember thinking "This would never fly in NYC". Here's a picture of what it looked like then...

Yup! Saw Jaws in 1975 at the Rocky Point Drive-in when I was seven. Saw the 30th Anniversary outdoor screening at Bryant Park, NYC. And today saw the 50th Anniversary IMAX screening in Times Square. After all these years it's still my favorite movie. Here's a sloppy shot I couldn't resist taking...

River Phoenix - musician, actor, environmental & animal rights activist - would have been 55 years old today. After River died, I stopped eating or wearing animals. I decided that since he didn't have the chance to change the world, he could at least change me. That was over 30 years ago now.
