I believe we are situated within a historical and multilateral political framework that allows for the PKK’s disarmament. The Turkish state is not trustworthy, but the Kurds in Bakûr are becoming more politically self-conscious. 5/

While there is deep mistrust from the PKK toward the Turkish state's plans and ambitions, disarmament could remove many of the pretexts that the Turkish state uses to justify its military offensives against the Kurds in Rojava and Başûr. The Kurds in Rojava persist in striving for peaceful co-existence with Arabs, Christians, and others.

However, if the dominant states in Kurdistan continue their denialist tendencies toward the Kurds, there will be no other option left but a move towards independence.

Marhaf Abu Qasra—now the Acting Minister of Defense in Syria—declared yesterday that they distinguish between the Kurds and the SDF, emphasizing that there will be no federation in Syria. This is a clear sign of an imminent threat to Rojava.

So, I guess what Jolani means by “disband” is transformation of HTS from an armed jihadist rebel group to state forces. So, this is not called “disbanding.” This is coloring the egg.
