Prof Stern *did* offer us a warning that wrecking our only home was a problem not only for people who care about the natural world.

Even the economy suffers. Don't believe folk who think that it's good for the economy to keep extracting fossil C.

Almost 20 years ago the Stern report warned us of the ECONOMIC consequences of climate change and the value in intervention.
This is an emergency.

Currently Heat pumps contribute more to climate change than most of us realise
Over & above the infrastructure & energy they require, they small amounts of refrigerants that are v potent greenhouse gases
Retrofitting for efficiency is key

Interesting to see the discrepancy between what people (in USA in this case) want, what they believe is true, the truth, & what they vote for

Basically people want a less unequal society, underestimate how unequal it is & then vote for a more unequal one

How utterly surreal.

Not only do we the people have to use the law in a david V goliath fight against the plans of the destructive fossil fuel companies,
now we the tax payers will have to compensate these companies if their plans are found to be illegal.

Apart from uber-important (PRIORITY) voting for collective govt policies with climate in mind...

here are also the most impactful decisions we can make as individuals:

At the top of the list are don't reproduce, don't drive, & don't fly (or hugely minimise)

It's because fossil C is long-term stored, whereas wood C is part of the ongoing dynamic cycling of C. Wood grows, rots, grows, rots.

Atmospheric CO2 changed very little over the last 10k yrs of wood burning but it did in the last 300 years when we started on coal.

The burning of fossil fuels is having health impacts globally.

The first level impacts are baked in.
The rest have scarcely started.

Not understanding the climatic difference between short-term and long-term captured C is a fundamental mistake.

Seems if you block roads because you are concerned about inheritance tax you are in a free democratic country

If you help someone block a road bc they are concerned about the collapse of society due to climate change then you go to jail, do not collect £200

I saw this.
Not something you see everyday in Scotland:
European spindle (Euonymus europaeus)

We're at its northern limit (historically at least).

"wood is very hard, and can be cut to a sharp point; it was used in the past for making spindles for wool-spinning and for butchers' skewers"

Please don't think that your country is that far behind.

We all MUST stop biting the hand (climate) that feeds us.

(I'm now flight-free for many years, chipping away at my own footprint, & supporting politicians who "get this")

Inverness Train Station has replaced the bike racks.

Almost all of them are of the wheel-bender/butterfly type.

Previously we had ScotGov-recommended Sheffields.

Photo shows that 3 out of the 4 cyclists avoided the abundant wheel-benders/butterflies in favour of the two remaining Sheffields.
