The Trump administration is planning to cancel its lease at a government laboratory in Hawaii, a site where scientists support key observations of surging greenhouse gas levels in the atmosphere, according to a list obtained by Democratic members of Congress and shared with The Post.
Trump moves to close facility that helps track planet-warming pollution
The lab is connected to the Mauna Loa Observatory, where scientists gather data to produce the Keeling Curve, a chart on the daily status of atmospheric carbon dioxide concentrations.

Another form of pollution, to add to brake dust & tyre wear, that won’t be solved by EVs

We need fewer cars and less driving

Even more important than the money:
There's our shared blue home too
The average UK household spends 14% of their income on transport.

That's why we've put proposals for a £2 bus fare cap at the heart of our budget negotiations.

With some routes costing more than £5 the annual savings for a commuter could be in the thousands!
Mark Ruskell: Cutting cost of public transport is key to tackling poverty
PUBLIC transport shouldn’t cost the earth but navigating Scotland’s bus and rail network is becoming increasingly expensive. At present an…

Listened to Hugh Grant's plea on Radio 4 for Labour to deliver on its promises to tackle press abuses. But a political party whose leader attacks identifiable private individuals in the Mail and describes The Times as the "paper of record" is not the solution but the problem.

Protect Scottish walkers, cyclists & riders & say
'No' to ⬆️HGV speed from 40 to 50mph on single carriageways in consultation. At 50mph HGV travels 53m (175 feet) before stopping, at 40mph 36m (118 feet). That 17m could cause hurt/death for active travellers.

🚎 We need to go further to deliver a truly affordable, reliable and accessible bus network across Scotland.

What more is the Scottish Government doing to cut the cost of buses and to support workers and commuters?

A vote for this bill is a vote for a liveable future & I urge every single MP to join me in passing this historic piece of legislation. Those who vote against must look to their consciences & ask why they're prepared to squander this historic opportunity #CANBill

This is the Labour Government fighting its own Parliamentarians to prevent them from passing a bill that would make legally binding the climate goals that *this Government has claimed it supports*.

Kafkaesque nonsense. Showing themselves publicly as hypocrites.

Even though all those trips aren't being made today, this isn't seen as an attack on anybody's mobility

And still we keep burning the fossil fuels and pumping out the carbon

Even the economy suffers. Don't believe folk who think that it's good for the economy to keep extracting fossil C.

Almost 20 years ago the Stern report warned us of the ECONOMIC consequences of climate change and the value in intervention.

I am a climate scientist and this is correct ⬇️
Occasional reminder that there’s no, “it’s too late, its over” for anthropogenic climate change. Every molecule of CO2 that doesn’t go into the atmosphere makes a difference. Preventing 0.1 degree of warming makes a difference. Every bit of climate resilience we build together makes a difference.

Currently Heat pumps contribute more to climate change than most of us realise
Over & above the infrastructure & energy they require, they small amounts of refrigerants that are v potent greenhouse gases
Retrofitting for efficiency is key

We won't achieve what we need to do to survive unless we vote for proper green politicians (be they capital G or lower case g).

Sudan is in a mess.
An intertwined climate change & political mess.

Note that those who most aggressively deploy immigration (to propel a political ideology to cut taxes for their rich donor pals) also deny the climate change that helps fuel immigration.
