In Ireland, since Covid there has been a strong sustained increase in teen employment, especially for girls working part-time.

(Boys have higher rates for working full-time, so overall employment rates are fairly equal.)

Is Ireland really the 6th biggest investor in the US?

☁️☁️☁️On paper yes, but investment surged in 2014, just as our GDP got fluffier. ☁️☁️☁️

Common usage of the word feminist is a lot more recent than I thought, well into the second "wave" 🌊 of feminism.

During the Cold War, the USSR had the benefit of various satellite states, and a global ideology.

However, even at peak the US 🇺🇸 economy war far larger.

Arguably, the US now has a far stronger strategic challenger, with it's economy 72% that of China's. 🇨🇳

Secondary school age girls have better literacy skills than boys, in Ireland. 👧👦📚

However, by the time they are adults there is no difference.

Boys/men consistently have better numeracy skills.

On average men have better numeracy skills than women. 🧮

More surprising, men who studied STEM have better numeracy than women who also studied STEM.

Family background has a relatively small impact on people's literacy skills in Ireland.

(We're good at levelling up.)

The fall in support for Sinn Féin from highs closely follows the fall in inflation. 📉 #GE24

Three-quarters of 15-year olds in Ireland have an expectation of what job they'll have when they're 30. 🔮

This is third highest in the OECD.

It's presented as a good thing 🥉, but I'm not so sure. 🤔

In Ireland, over a third of men earn less than the majority of women (in the workplace).

Just under two-thirds of women earn less than the majority of men.

The past 5 years employment has grown 20%.

However, construction employment only grew 10%. 👷‍♂️

We've managed to have a huge increase in employment in health 👩‍⚕️and ICT 👨‍💻, but only a small increase in construction 👷‍♂️ (in both absolute and relative terms).

I guess construction simply isn't a priority. 🤷‍♂️

Over the past five years, employment in Ireland has grown a massive 20%!!!

This is 2nd highest in the EU.

The volume of booze sold in Irish bars more than halved since the turn of the millenium! 🍺🍾📉

(The value of bar sales is similar, as the price of booze sold in bars roughly doubled.)

Interesting breakdown of costs of building a house.

€160,000 to build the house, but the other bits (including builders margin, VAT, marketing) bring it closer to €400,000. 🏗️🏡
