This is how the US stock market reacted to Trump's press secretary confirming that on Feb 1 (US time), 25% tariffs will be applied to Mexico and Canada. Also, a 10% tariff on China. I'm unclear if that's 10% on top of existing China tariffs or the total effective tariff.

Trump has launched 50 executive orders, including withdrawing from the Paris Climate Agreement and the WHO. He has declared that all Federal government work from home (WFH) be abolished. The flurry is to make sure that we are overwhelmed and can't focus on any one of them. The damage on day one!

Reportedly, Trump has signed an executive order to try and remove the sentence from the Constitution that defines birthright citizenship. You can't change the Constitution by executive order. Trump asserts a USA free of the Consitution. He has already broken his oath.

It's a large moment in history. A fascist regime now controls the largest army and stockpile of nukes in the world. The dislocation of our safe world into this new, dangerous one makes me feel sick. We didn't get to vote, but we will all suffer Trump's dumb and evil.

Pundits discussing the move of Trump's inauguration to indoors makes me think about how many billionaires are lined up on one stage. Not that I'm advocating it, but a successful terrorist attack could take out more big money than anything in history. Combined trillions of dollars!

A Russian official pointed out that Russia sold Alaska to the USA for $7.2 million, the amount now worth about $16 billion. He said that the USA has frozen $320 billion of Russian money, so they'll take Alaska back, and the US can keep that amount of the frozen money.
